Massage Therapy Benefits

The effects of massage therapy are both physiological and psychological. Massage therapy performed on a healthy person increases muscle flexibility and relaxation, and decreases stress levels. Massage is recognized as effective in reducing or managing pain that arises from a variety of sources such as trauma, post- surgery, headache, fibromyalgia, arthritis and terminal illness.

The psychological effects are the increased well being that usually occurs with positive touch. Psychological benefits are most evident in those experiencing stress and depression.
